The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA periodically holds Puppy Support Groups. Their website says, "Got some questions? Bring your puppy for an hour of open-forum problem solving and puppy play! Does your dog need a little TLC and relaxation!?! Then check out the Canine Massage lecture through the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA on Thursday, October 21st from 6:30-8pm. Their website says, "Come learn about some wonderful holistic modalities that can help keep your pet happy & healthy. All dogs can benefit from treatments, such as Canine massage, Acupressure, Reiki and EFT (emotional freedom techniques). These are very effective for various physical ailments, emotional and behavioral issues, and preventative care. Pet Loss Support Group
Pets definitely become a part of the family, so it can be difficult when a pet passes on. The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA have a Pet Loss Support Group that is held periodically. Their site explains, "The San Diego Humane Society’s Pet Loss Support Group provides an environment where thoughts and emotions can be shared with those in similar circumstances. Sessions are led by a licensed social worker and are open to those ages 10 and up....There is no fee for the sessions thanks in part to a donation from San Diego Pet Memorial Park; however donations to help with providing this valuable service are greatly appreciated. Do you have a Spaniel? Well, then here's a great social event for your doggy! The San Diego Spaniel Resuce periodically holds dog socials. In October, their will be one held on Saturday 10/2 at Doyle Dog Park, and one on 10/16 at Oceanside Dog Park. Their site says, "Join fellow Cocker Spaniel owners (and their dogs!) for a leisurely get together. Our Spaniel Social happens monthly beginning at 1:00pm. Your Spaniels can run and play in the fenced-in dog park. This is a great opportunity to bond with your canine companion while providing socialization skills." 10/2--The Mutt Mile & Doggy Costume Contest
Check out the 2010 Coastwise Mile & 5K at the beautiful La Jolla Cove on Saturday October 2nd! One of the events will include the The Mutt Mile & Doggy Costume Contest. Their website goes on to say, "The Mutt Mile kicks off @ 7:30am. So bring your canine compadre and run/walk a mile. All dogs must have their shots (and be up to date). And all dogs must be on a leash (8' max length). We will also be having a costume contest @ 7:15am prior to the run (so the dogs don't have to run in their costumes). So come out and have some fun at the park, and stop by the San Diego Humane Society booth. Please note that due to City Regulations all dogs must vacate the park by 9:00am." Thursdays On the Coast Art Walk is held in downtown Carlsbad at the Shops at Village Faire on the last Thursday of each month from 5:30-8:30pm, year-round.
